Why We Call It The Eastman
Named after the Eastman Hotel, an elegant 500-room landmark built in 1890 and one of Hot Springs’ largest hotels of its time. Known as a legendary hub for the baseball community in the early 20th century, it is where Babe Ruth famously flipped a coin in 1921 to settle his salary dispute with the Yankees. The Eastman represented grand-scale hospitality during the city’s peak as America’s premier resort destination.
